Multi-Fandom Fanfic Exchange

Ladies and gentlemen, sign-ups are now open! The form is here, and you'll be able to access this year's collection here. Instructions are on the form, but if you have any questions we'll be happy to answer them here or via e-mail.

While we don't require this, we do strongly encourage you to increase your potential matches by requesting at least one fandom that you're not offering. You may also want to take a look at the summary before sign-ups close; it's a good way to see if you're the only person offering the fandoms you're requesting.

Sign-ups will be open until 9pm Eastern on July 20th.

To the person who nominated Fearless Defenders (comics):

Fearless Defenders sounds like a great series, but it seems there's no tag for it on AO3 already. Under our rules, unfortunately, this means it won't be accepted. If you'd like to nominate something else in its place, please let us know! We'll be happy to replace it with something that has a pre-existing tag.

(We hope you'll try taking Fearless Defenders to this year's Yuletide, which does create new AO3 tags during its nomination process and is specifically geared to small or rare fandoms.)

This year we have approved several nominations that encompass multiple fandoms under one umbrella:

- The Outsiders - All Media Types
- Rumble Fish - All Media Types

Please keep in mind that we match based on fandoms and ratings only. If you decide to offer to write one of these fandoms, recognize that you may be asked to to write any character or pairing that falls under this umbrella. For example, if you offer to write MCU, you are potentially being asked for Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, The Avengers, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, or Captain America: The First Avenger. The same with the Discworld series, where you could be asked to write for any of the 40 books, or with Dragon Age, where you could be asked to write a story based on any of the video games, any of the books, or any of the comic books.

If you've nominated one of these fandoms but would prefer to narrow the scope to a particular movie, game, or book in order to increase potential matches, please contact us as quickly as possible so that we can modify the fandom list as necessary.

We'll announce it here in the community when we're open for business. In the meantime please remember that you'll be limited to five nominations this year, and you're welcome to comment on this post or email us if you need an AO3 invite to join in.

Fandom nominations and signups will take place on Archive of Our Own (AO3). Watch this community for details. We'll post them as they become available.

Volunteer to be a beta reader!

Just like in previous years, our exchange participants not only know how to write to great prompts, they also know how to ask for great stories. Following are the unfilled prompts, listed by fandom. We have not attached recipient names to any prompt but we know who's who, and when a story comes in we'll be sure to let the proper recipient know.

The same rules apply here as they did for the fic exchange itself: the fic should be at least 1000 words in length, the rating can't be exceeded, and when it's done it should be mailed to the mod account with the submission header on it. We'll post it and send notice to the recipient that one of their prompts has been filled: voila, just like magic. The main difference is that anyone can fill them; you need not have taken part in the exchange to write to one of these prompts. Also, any prompt is eligible to be filled more than once. There's no need to worry that someone else will claim the story or stories you want to write, and you can write as many as you want.

Be sure to check the mirror community on LiveJournal for comments on both these and the originally-posted stories. You might have comments there you haven't seen.

I actually starting writing for the Helo & Sam road trip prompt first and suddenly changed my mind to write this, so like it or not, kleenexcow, I'm afraid you're probably going to be getting the road trip from me at some later point as well.
