Fandom nominations have been closed, and sign-ups are now open! The form is here. Instructions are on the form, but if you have any questions we'll be happy to answer them here or via e-mail. Sign-ups will be open until 9pm Eastern on July 12th.

Later in the sign-up period you may want to take a look at the summary. It's a good way to make sure you're not the only person offering the fandoms you're requesting.

I just noticed that LotR is nominated both for book-only and All Media Types and was wondering about matching - I'd be fine writing for either (that's why I nominated All Media Types, assuming that can but doesn't have to include the books and movies), but I'm not sure if I need to sign up for both to have a chance at being matched with book-only, or if signing up for All Media Types will automatically do that. I wouldn't mind signing up for both since I could still get all fandoms I want, but I'm also not sure where this falls on your each-fandom-once rule since they're technically the same. Help, please?

Thanks for asking! This is a tricky situation, and we'll specifically address it in our rules moving forward. The participant who nominated the book-only version definitely wanted to stay book-specific, and in this case, yes, you would have to offer the book-only option to have a shot of getting matched with that person. We would ask someone who requested both the book-only version of The Lord of the Rings and the All Media Types version to change one of them to an unrelated fandom because the each-fandom-once rule is in place to help maximize each person's potential matches in this small exchange, but we're willing to allow someone to offer both, provided they're offering at least two other unrelated fandoms.

If you want to offer The Lord of the Rings but would prefer not to spend two offers on it, our suggestion would be to sign up with whichever version you prefer. At the moment the sign-up summary says there's only one request for LotR and that's for the book-only option. As we near the 12th you can check the summary again to see which has more requests and then edit your sign-up if you want to increase your potential matches.

Thank you! That's a very fair solution, and I've gone ahead and offered both with the additional unrelated fandoms you requested. I'm hoping to promote this exchange a bit so there may be more Tolkien-themed signups in the near future, too. :)
